Exclusive: interview with Brazilian star Antony on his future, Man United and more Fabrizio Romano Comfirm

Exclusive: interview with Brazilian star Antony on his future, Man United and more ⤵️🔴

▫️ How is the negotiation for your transfer going?

▪️ Antony: "Since February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face new challenge and that some interested clubs would arrive and with them, certainly a great offer".

▫️ What happened with Ajax?

▪️ Antony: "In June of this year, I interrupted my vacation and came personally to inform the managers of Ajax, including new coach, about my wish to leave and that they should consider this possibility, because it was a project for 2 seasons".

▫️ Antony, what did you tell the club so?

▪️ Antony: "During the window months, meetings continued and I also received a proposal from Ajax for contract renewal. I made it clear once again: I WANT TO LEAVE".

▫️ What happened today, Friday?

▪️ Antony: "Today, in a meeting with the club, I expressed my old interest in leaving - this time with considerable offer on the table. Others had already arrived! Ajax refused with argument that they only have 5 days to replace me".

▫️ Why Ajax don't want to let you go?

▪️ Antony: "I'm not asking Ajax to release me, I'm asking Ajax to sell me with the highest bid ever for Eredivisie player. I've been insisting on this theme since February so that the club could rebuild the team with peace of mind".

▫️ How do you feel about the club?

▪️ Antony: "I was very happy in Amsterdam, I won titles at Ajax, made friends and built part of my career, but now I REINFORCE that I am ready and full of motivation to follow my story and my dreams".

▫️ What's your position right now?

▪️ Antony: "People need to listen to me and understand that my motivation moves me towards happiness. I need this to continue performing at a high level. Ajax will always be in my heart!".

▫️ What’s your message to Ajax fans?

▪️ Antony: "I hope Ajax fans understand me... because the future for a football player is a totally uncertain thing and the opportunities can be unique!"

"My message is one of gratitude for Ajax, club and fans".

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that captain Harry Maguire is available for Friday's pre-season friendly against Melbourne Victory at Melbourne Cricket ground.

The centre-back, who will continue as United's captain this season, missed Tuesday's 4-0 win over Liverpool in Thailand because of a minor knock. He trained away from the main group in the build-up to the contest on Monday and was not risked against Jurgen Klopp's side.

In his absence, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof started at centre-back, before being replaced at half-time by Eric Bailly and Alex Telles, as Ten Hag made mass changes at the interval. Bailly impressed after coming off the bench, meaning he could bag himself a starting berth against Melbourne.

However, Ten Hag has confirmed that he expects Maguire to be capable of playing half of Friday's first friendly in Australia. The Dutchman did not, however, confirm if the England defender will start.

"He is available," Ten Hag confirmed, speaking at his pre-match press conference. "We will see [if he will play 45 minutes], but I think he can play half a game."

United enter their second pre-season outing with the squad in a healthy position, with Ten Hag reporting no fresh injury concerns. Goalkeeper David de Gea went off in the second-half against Liverpool after appearing to pull up with a minor complaint, but he was not mentioned by the Dutchman in his latest press call, suggesting that he is fine.

Our squad is full," Ten Hag added. "We are at full capacity and we have a strong squad, so the fans will be happy."

Chelsea will need ‘very high concrete offer’ to get forward – Club want €80-90m minimum

Chelsea will need ‘very high concrete offer’ to get forward – Club want €80-90m minimum

With Chelsea now seemingly getting their transfer window started, a few clubs are wondering if their players are safe.

One of those is Milan, whose Rafael Leão has apparently become a target for the Blues, with reports starting to circulate that the Premier League side are looking at the Portuguese forward.

Corriere dello Sport cover it on Wednesday, mentioning that the English media are the ones who broke the news, before seemingly adding information of their own.

They do state Chelsea made ‘enquiries’ via the player’s agent, and ‘asked if they could give it a try later this summer’.

As pointed out, it’s ‘just an exploratory phase’ for now, but the Serie A side ‘expect the arrival of some team who will concretely ask for the player sooner or later’.

That’s why they are keen to renew him, but if they can’t, they also won’t want to lose him on a free.

Corriere then go on to state that this is why ‘if very high concrete offers arrive, Milan would evaluate them, but only from the threshold of €80-90m’, with anything below ‘returned to sender’.

Part of this is because they owe 15% of any transfer to Lille, and with new owners at the helm, there’s a chance Chelsea could reach those figures if they really wanted to.

Certainly something to keep an eye on.

Chelsea eye 26-year-old Bundesliga winger as an alternative to Raphinha

Chelsea eye 26-year-old Bundesliga winger as an alternative to Raphinha

Transfer News: Chelsea are interested in Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry as an alternative to Raphinha

According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Premier League giants Chelsea are showing interest in Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry this summer.

The Blues were heavily linked with Leeds United star Raphinha. They also had a bid accepted by the Yorkshire side only for the player to hold out for a move to Barcelona. This has prompted Thomas Tuchel and co to shift their attention elsewhere.

Chelsea are close to announcing Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling but appear keen to bring in one more winger. This is understandable given Christian Pulisic’s injuries and Hakim Ziyech’s inconsistency. The latter is currently in talks with AC Milan and could exit Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks.

Gnabry is one of the most dynamic wingers in the German top flight and has emerged as a regular for both Bayern and Germany in recent years. He has one year left on his deal at the Allianz Arena and Chelsea could tempt the Germans into selling him this summer.

Having already signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool, Die Roten already have one wide-man in, meaning that they could be amenable to selling the 26-year-old. A right-winger who can play anywhere along the frontline, Gnabry will certainly add another dimension to the Blues’ roster.

Chelsea already have two excellent full-backs in Ben Chilwell and Reece James on their roster. Landing Sterling and Gnabry will hand them two reliable wide-men, both of who will help overload the flanks. As long as the Bleus pull it off, they will be a force to be reckoned with on the wings next season.

Accord to Joe Nelson:Ten Hag, Cristiano Ronaldo is in his plans for the new season

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made it clear that Cristiano Ronaldo is in his plans for the new season after fielding a number of questions on the striker’s future.

The Reds’ new boss was asked about the absence of the Portugal international from his Tour 2022 squad during his pre-match press conference for tomorrow’s match against Liverpool in Bangkok.

“He is not with us, and it is due to personal reasons,” said the Dutchman. “We are planning with Cristiano Ronaldo for this season.

“That’s it and I’m looking forward to working with him.”He added: “Cristiano is in our plans and we want to get success together.”

Ten Hag was keen to stress he has previously had a very positive conversation with the 37-year-old. “I had a good conversation with him and I had a really good talk.”

When probed for details of this chat, the United boss refused to share any insight, reiterating his stance about the no.7.

“[The conversation] is between Cristiano and me,” he said. “But what I can confirm is we had a really good conversation together.”

United begin Tour 2022 with a fixture against Liverpool at the Rajamangala Stadium tomorrow (14:00 BST), live on MUTV, with Ronaldo not playing a part.

Ten Hag explained that the striker is absent for the moment, as has previously been communicated.

“I cannot tell,” the Dutchman responded when asked whether Ronaldo would be joining the Reds on tour. “The absence is already explained and that is it for the moment.”

Football rumours: Robert Lewandowski open to Chelsea if Barcelona deal collapses

The Blues need a new centre-forward after Romelu Lukaku went on loan to Inter Milan.

Robert Lewandowski is said to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge if his preferred deal with Barcelona does not come off. The Mail, which cites Germany’s Bild, says Chelsea and Paris St Germain will enter the race for the 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker if his Camp Nou move fails. West London is then understood to be his preferred destination, with the Blues in need of a new centre-forward following Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Inter Milan on loan.

What the papers say

Staying at Chelsea, where bosses reportedly have “no problem” meeting Napoli’s £34million tag for Kalidou Koulibaly. The Blues are considering additional defensive requirements after they lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer. The 31-year-old defender is off contract with Napoli at the end of next season and the Senegalese ace is also being monitored by Juventus, according to the Sun which cites Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Everton are understood to be on the cusp of offering their England goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, a new long-term contract. The stopper joined the Merseysiders from Sunderland for £25m in 2017 and following strong showings for his country signed a six-year deal in 2018 which takes him through to next summer. The Liverpool Echo reports the reigning Everton Player of the Season, 28, will soon be asked to commit to the club into his 30s and toward a decade with them.

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham face competition from up north as they chase a signature from France. The Standard says Newcastle failed to land Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta in January and the Ligue 1 club have confirmed the 24-year-old has been the subject of bids.

Thomas Tuchel makes final decision on Chelsea's transfer pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo

Thomas Tuchel makes final decision on Chelsea's transfer pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo

Thomas Tuchel is said to be far from convinced about adding Cristiano Ronaldo to his squad due to the impact it may have

Thomas Tuchel has ruled out Chelsea making a move to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer.

Ronaldo wants to leave United just one year on from his return to Old Trafford and the 37-year-old is the only player who has not reported to the club’s pre-season training this month due to ‘family reasons’. This means the Portuguese superstar is not involved in the 31-player squad which has jetted off to Bangkok.

Blues owner Todd Boehly is considering launching an extraordinary bid to sign Ronaldo as he and Chelsea director Behdad Eghbali are keeping close tabs on the situation, but will not move for the player unless they receive Tuchel's blessing.

Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga set for fresh twist as Man Utd sponsors have say

Lionel Messi has made feelings clear on Cristiano Ronaldo joining him at PSG

Ronaldo’s situation has been complicated further as he featured in United’s launch for their new home kit but recorded footage of him alongside David Beckham and Eric Cantona – which had been scheduled to be released at the same time as the new kit – has been put on hold by Adidas until the his future at the club is clarified.

Chelsea are set to complete the £47.5million signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City this week to bolster their attacking options, but the loan exit of club-record signing Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan has left a hole in the centre of their forward line.

Tuchel is said by the Mail to be unconvinced by Ronaldo’s addition as he would not be a natural fit in his side’s attack. The manager fears the Portuguese superstar could disrupt their fluid attacking options that include Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic, alongside the addition of Sterling.

This is a similar dilemma to the one United faced last year; the club had an attack including Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, but those plans were shelved with the addition of Ronaldo, which unbalanced the attack – despite his fine personal output of 24 goals for the season.

Tuchel said of the Portuguese star last year: "Time will tell, but I think it is not a secret that any team in the world without Cristiano [Ronaldo] is in some parts of the game a weaker team. He is one of the greatest who has ever played this game, and he proves it every time he is on the field.

"Now [he is] in the Premier League and in the Champions League, so they lost a big champion, a big point of reference and a big personality. But you can win games and be a strong team without Cristiano Ronaldo. This is also true."

Liverpool: Fabrizio Romano drops update on Raphinha

Liverpool: Fabrizio Romano drops update on Raphinha

Liverpool have held a long-term interest in Raphinha, and now a new update has emerged from a reliable source on the player’s future amid lots of speculation of a move this summer.

Raphinha update. Leeds United now officially confirm that Raphinha is not in the team for the tour of Australia.

                         What’s the latest?

Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed an update on £60m Leeds United star Raphinha’s ongoing situation at the club.

Raphinha will train in England while Leeds are in talks to sell him.

Barcelona have improved their verbal bid – Chelsea had proposal accepted 10 days ago

FSG must act now

If Liverpool are interested in signing Raphinha, FSG must act now to secure the deal for the Brazilian before he makes a move to either Chelsea or Barcelona this summer.

It was reported that the Reds had an offer rejected for the Leeds winger last month, but as the transfer window goes on it could now be Liverpool’s last chance to capture Raphinha.

The 25-year-old has been a consistent and reliable attacking threat for the West Yorkshire club since he joined in 2020, and this season was a hugely important player in his team’s difficult challenge to remain in the Premier League.

Raphinha scored 11 goals, delivered three assists and created ten big chances, making 1.9 key passes, 1.5 tackles and winning 5.2 duels on average per game and was the club’s top goal scorer over his 35 league appearances last season.

Not only did the attacker score the most goals, he scored one of the most important goals of the season against Brentford on the final day to make sure Leeds retained their top-flight status, proving that he is a very impactful player that can make a huge difference in the team.

Although Liverpool have been constantly linked with a move for Raphinha, the interest has now dwindled especially now Mohamed Salah has signed a new deal to remain at Anfield for another three years, and it doesn’t now seem viable to sign the Brazil international this summer.

With that being said, there is no doubt that Raphinha would add further creativity and goal contributions to the team at Liverpool and if they could find a way to secure a deal for the player it would be a huge signing that could guarantee quality in front of goal beyond Salah’s new contract for years to come.
