  ASUU strike: Buhari govt reveals when universities will resume The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has assured that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will soon be over. Goodluck Opiah, the Minister of State for Education, assured that Buhari's administration is committed to ending the ASUU strike. Opiah gave the assurance in Owerri, Imo State, while addressing journalists over the weekend. "I can assure you that the government is very concerned about the situation. Even as I speak to you now a lot of thinking, a lot of discussions and meetings are going on with a view to resolving the matter as quickly as possible. "I am hopeful that the disagreement between the government and ASUU will be resolved soon so that our children can go back to school". ASUU has been on strike since February 2022 over face-off with the Federal Government due to mode of payment for university lecturers.

 Strike: We Will Call Off Strike Moment FG Accepts UTAS – ASUU The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has challenged the federal government to accept the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) payment platform for it to call off the ongoing strike. ASUU national president, Prof. Emmanuel Osedeke, who said this while speaking on Channels Television on Monday night, said the strike will continue unless government accept UTAS and honour the 2009 agreement. Osodeke said, “Let government tell us they have finished testing the UTAS and sign the agreement, then tomorrow we will call off the strike. “We challenge the government, when would they sign the agreement? When would they accept UTAS? These are the two questions we should ask Nigerian government,” he stated.

Minimum Wage Arrears: 6 different schools including Universities of Agriculture were not paid the arrears of the consequential adjustment to the minimum wage. When the Union sought for explanation on why they were omitted, it was reported that the Ministry of Education excluded those under the Ministry of Agriculture.
